Operating Guide (2)
The PXW-FX9 camera’s full-frame 6K sensor provides superb recording in Ultra HD and HD resolutions. DCI 4K, will be available with future firmwave updates*, Although Digital Camera Initiative is the same height as UHD, DCI is 256 pixels wider and is what you'd see viewing a 4K film at the cinema (4096x2160).
With powerful image processing, debayering and oversampling of the 6k full-frame (35.7x18.8mm) sensor ensures image quality beyond Super 35mm sensors (24.0x12.7mm). The back-illuminated CMOS image sensor also uses Sony’s Exmor R technology for improved sensitivity and noise reduction. Compared to a 4K Super 35mm sensor, the FX9’s 6K sensor has over twice the surface area while providing a wider angle of view and shallower depth of field.
The PXW-FX9 offers 15+ stops of dynamic range which is beyond the normal range of human perception, dual base ISO of ISO 800 for outside and brightly lit scenes with a secondary ISO 4000 for low-light conditions.
Full-HD and and Super 35 selectable frame-rate from 1fps up to 120fps, then full-HD 180fps with future firmware updates*.
Autofocus with all Sony E-mount lenses including the new cinema lens series.
* Future updates are planned to be free of charge and are listed as below. Firmware releasing timing remains to be determined.
